Meet the coaches

12U Girls

​Thomas Tran
Head Coach - 12U

Thomas Tran is excited to return to coaching volleyball after some time away with his young kids.  He was extensively involved in the Ottawa club teams and regional team programs as both a player then coach.  He has also been a part of the UBC men’s program as an assistant coach and team physio.

Head Coach - 12U

Jo is a dedicated homeschooling mother of four with a lifelong passion for volleyball. She fell in love with the game at just 12 years old and went on to help her high school team capture gold at the city championships. Since then, Jo has spent the past 15 years coaching both youth and adults, sharing her love for the sport and commitment to player development.


Jo continues to play volleyball with great joy, always striving for continual growth and improvement while bringing out the best in her teammates. As a coach, she focuses on strong fundamentals, team chemistry, and the dynamics that make great teams work together seamlessly. Jo brings a competitive spirit to her coaching, encouraging athletes to challenge themselves while maintaining a positive, supportive environment.

Her coaching philosophy centers on fostering growth, confidence, and a deeper love for the game. She strives to help each player discover their potential—both on and off the court—through teamwork, perseverance, and the joy of volleyball.

​Caia Fisher-Hulse
Assistant Coach - 12U

Caia is a graduate student at the University of British Columbia in the Faculty of Medicine. Outside of her studies at UBC and her research at BC Women's Hospital NICU, Caia currently coaches the grade six girls team at Crofton House School, and is excited to coach club volleyball. Caia was a middle blocker at Crofton House School, where she won back to back provincial championships in 2017 and 2018. Caia also played club volleyball for Thunder Volleyball Club, where she won U17 and U18 Provincials.

Chloe Tees
Assistant Coach - 12U

Chloe has several years of coaching experience, including leading high school teams to league championships and guiding the 12U Red team to a silver medal at provincials last year. She has played volleyball for many years, including competing on the SFU club team, which has deepened her knowledge and passion for the game. Chloe is excited to be coaching 12U again this year and can’t wait to share her love for the sport with a new group of players.

Assistant Coach - 12U

Kendra is a current student at UBC in her second year. She played volleyball on her school team throughout high school in 2021-2024. Kendra is currently assisting in coaching the grade 9 team at University Hill Secondary School.

Autumn Bailey
Head Coach - 13U Black


Autumn is excited to be joining PCVC this year as a coach for the 12U team. She started playing volleyball when she was 10 years old and has loved it ever since.

Autumn played college volleyball at Michigan State University where she studied elementary education and then moved to Vancouver to join the Canadian National Team. Autumn played her first professional season in Turkey and helped her team earn a top 5 finish in the competitive Turkish League. In 2019 at the VNL qualifier, she suffered a knee injury that has kept her out of competition, but she is eager to heal and return to the court as soon as she can. 


​Autumn is from Ontario and grew up playing club volleyball for Defensa. She has been coaching youth volleyball for 15 years and is excited to bring her expertise to the 12U level, helping to develop athletes to reach their full potential and to grow as people and teammates.

Ricardo Hernandez
Head Coach - 13U Red

​Ricardo brings a wealth of coaching experience to the PCVC 13U Red team, with a strong background and dedication in coaching at various school levels. Last season, he led the PCVC U12 Red team to a silver medal finish in Div 1 at the Provincial Championships and guided his U12 girls’ school team to their first-ever CISVA championship in 2024.

Ricardo is currently the Varsity Head Coach at Little Flower Academy, where he continues to foster excellence and teamwork among his athletes.

A multi-sport athlete himself, Ricardo has played both volleyball and basketball, representing British Columbia and Ontario on provincial teams and competing at the CCAA level. He believes in making volleyball enjoyable while inspiring and developing the next generation of players.

Maria Liaskas
​Assistant Coach - 13U Red

Maria is a kinesiologist and strength & conditioning coach with a passion for helping young athletes reach their full potential — both on and off the court. A former elite rhythmic gymnast, as well as a three-time provincial volleyball champion, Maria brings over a decade of competitive experience and a deep understanding of movement, discipline, and resilience.
With bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Kinesiology from UBC, she combines science-based training with a supportive coaching approach that builds confidence, athleticism, and a lifelong passion for sport. At PCVC, her goal is to empower athletes to move better, perform stronger, and develop the mental and physical tools to succeed at every level of their game.

Michelle Burt
Head Coach - 14U Black

Michelle has finally decided to make the leap to coaching after playing competitively since the age of 16. She played volleyball in Toronto ON with the Scarborough Solars Volleyball Club, was selected to the Regional team x2 years and the Ontario Provincial Team x2 years. She was the starting middle blocker for the University of Toronto Varsity Team for 3 years and for the University of Manitoba Bisons Varsity Team for 1 year.

Considered an “undersized” middle player, Michelle worked hard to secure her starting position by focusing on the fundamentals. She brings this same philosophy and dedication to the fundamentals to her coaching. Michelle’s motto is “all players, even middles, should be 6 rotation players”

Allyssah Fitterer
Assistant Coach - 14U Black

Allyssah is returning to the PCVC coaching staff following a thrilling 2024 U12 season, with PCVC teams securing gold and silver medals at Provincial Championships.

After 12 years competing at the club, regional, provincial, NCAA, and professional level, Allyssah retired from the Canadian Women’s National Team in the fall of 2023.

Coaching has allowed Allyssah to give back all she’s learned and be a positive female role model for young women in sport. She brings the player’s perspective to coaching, focusing on athletes’ joy, improvement, and mental and physical well-being. In addition to technical training, she equally values teaching mental skills and sportsmanship. 

Outside of her work with PCVC, Allyssah leads Volleyball Canada’s Regional Excellence Program at the Olympic Oval. Her passion for helping others led her to work in youth education and mental health spaces. She is currently pursuing a degree in Counselling Psychology.

Momoko Fukuda
Assistant Coach - 14U Black

Momoko started playing volleyball at the age of 9 in Japan and had the honor of competing in a national championship as a member of Team Tokyo while in high school. She also participated in the Spring High Volleyball Tournament, which is featured in the popular anime Haikyuu!

After entering Rikkyo University in Japan, Momoko joined the volleyball team as both a coach and a player. She has also coached a girls team for ages 6 to 12. Momoko currently plays as a libero, however she has experience in all positions throughout her volleyball career.

Momoko recently moved to Vancouver and is excited to join a coed 6s team now. She is honored to have the opportunity to be part of the PCVC team!

Milena Čučuk
Head Coach - 14U Red

Milena is excited to return for her second coaching season with PCVC. She is proud to have coached the 13U Girls Team White to a Silver medal at the BC Regionals and a top ten placement in the 2025 Provincials, during her inaugural season as a PCVC coach.
Milena started playing volleyball at the age of 8 in her hometown of Pljevlja, Yugoslavia and won the U13 National Championship of Montenegro in 2004. Later on, at her high school in Hong Kong, she assistant-coached her school’s volleyball team and led them to their first victory in school history. Milena continued playing recreationally after her undergraduate studies in Vancouver and is proud to have won the Urban Rec beach volley tournament in 2015 in a co-ed team.

Knee injuries prevent Milena from actively playing but she is eager to share her skills and experience with the youth and reconnect with the sport.

Luis Cabrejos
Assistant Coach - 14U Red

Luis has been active in sports his whole life — especially volleyball, swimming, and table tennis. He began volleyball training at age 12 and has competed at a high level in Peru since he was 16. His experience in multiple positions has helped him develop a strong technical foundation and deep tactical understanding of the game. He is passionate about helping athletes grow through strong fundamentals, proper mechanics, and confident decision-making. Luis coaches with patience and believes progress comes from mastering basics with consistency and discipline. He is currently completing his NCCP Development Coach certification and is excited to bring his energy to PCVC this season.

Shea Murphy
Assistant Coach - 14U Red

Shea grew up in Edmonton playing club and school volleyball throughout his secondary years, culminating in a 4A provincial championship in his final year. After graduation, he remained active in the sport through co-ed recreational leagues for over a decade.


In 2014, Shea began coaching developmental volleyball at Avalon Junior High, his alma mater, where he spent six seasons introducing young athletes to the game.  In 2019 and 2020, he joined the Nooks 14u and Fog 15u club teams, helping both to bronze medals in premier tournaments.

Throughout his coaching journey, Shea has found that clear communication and positive relationships between teammates and coaches create a supportive environment for growth. His approach centers on equipping athletes with knowledge and then providing ample opportunities to refine their skills and build confidence.  He believes athletes are the ones who do the work and achieve the results. As a coach, his role is to support, guide, and empower them to grow as players and as people.

Elham Fallah
Head Coach - 15U Black

Elham Fallah has 10 years of experience with the Iran National Team. She served as the Captain of the National Team at the 2020 Olympic Qualifiers. Over the course of her career, she has been both champion and runner-up in the Iranian Premier League. In 2018 and 2019, she was selected as Best Setter and Player of the Year. In addition to her playing career, she is a coach in the REP Program at the Richmond Olympic Oval and coaches the 15U and 12U teams at Apex Volleyball Club.

Caitlin Hughes
Assistant Coach - 15U Black

Caitlin is making her return to court coaching for PCVC after spending 2 years at the University of Toronto completing her Master’s of Science in Occupational Therapy! While in Ontario, she proudly represented Leaside Volleyball Club as a 12U Head Coach and Sunday League Lead. 

Caitlin has been a member of the PCVC coaching staff since 2018. From lead coaching clinics, head coaching club teams and doing administrative tasks, she has gained a ton of experience navigating youth sport program delivery and has received fantastic mentorship throughout her coaching career. You can find her coordinating Sunday League and scheduling coaches for PCVC clinics this year (which has been her role since 2022). 


Caitlin is ecstatic to be joining the 15U PCVC Black crew this year, as many of the girls are original members of her 12U crew from a few years ago - full circle! She looks forward to working with growth mindset oriented athletes who are committed to personalizing their volleyball craft and who appreciate the purpose of strengthening the mental side of their game too.


​Caitlin started her own volleyball journey at age 8, and played her 12-18U club career with Thunder Volleyball Club in Vancouver. Currently, Caitlin competes locally on the Volleyball BC beach circuit in the summer, and enjoys hiking in her free time.

Catherine Chow
Head Coach - 15U Red


Catherine (Chow) Hughesman coached the U13 girls to a Provincial Tier 1 Silver medal during her inaugural year as a PCVC coach, having coached elementary school volleyball teams for the past three years. 

As a mom to two Club and beach players, Catherine’s can-do attitude supports the team, athletes and parents to enjoy the best playing experience possible for all. Catherine is an avid beach player, and she returned to playing indoor 6s for fun this year.

Together with her spouse Curtis, they are proudly part of a family obsessed with volleyball and hockey; Catherine also enjoys an executive legal career with a professional sports team and is a UBC law professor.

Gavin Hastings
Assistant Coach -15U Red


Gavin has played volleyball since Grade 8. He played for the Victoria Volleyball Association for 5 years in high school and was selected for Team BC tryouts in 2009. He has coached multiple teams from elementary age all the way up to 18U. In 2023, he coached the 16U PCVC boys team to a top ten placement in provincials. Gavin is excited to be returning to PCVC for his third year with the club!

Assistant Coach - 15U Red

​Nicholas Taub will be joining the PCVC 15U Girls team as an assistant coach this season. Having been part of PCVC for several years, he is excited to continue growing with the club. A former UBC men’s volleyball player, Nicholas also brings experience competing in beach volleyball overseas. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and passion for the game with the team this season.

Richard Schick
Head Coach - 16U Girls


Richard has coached at all levels from 13u club to the University level, and both our Mens and Women's national team. As a player, Richard won National Championships at the college, university and pro levels and as a coach at college, university and junior beach levels. Over his coaching tenure his programs have produced numerous athletes who have who have represented both our Canadian indoor and beach national teams.

​Brandon discovered volleyball in his junior year of high school and quickly fell in love with the game. Since then, he has stayed deeply involved in the volleyball community as a coach, player, and enthusiastic supporter of both amateur and professional play.

He is a Certified Development Coach and trained Advanced Development Coach and now enters his seventh year of coaching with PCVC. He brings a true passion for the game of volleyball and and is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with this year's 17U team.

Mike discovered volleyball on Kits beach when he first moved to Vancouver and immediately fell in love with the sport. He plays in the KBVA beach tournaments as well as various indoor and grass tournaments. Newer to coaching, he is excited to share his passion for the sport with the team.

Simon is a passionate volleyball coach who has played three years of competitive club experience. He has coached athletes at the high school, club, and adult levels, bringing a well-rounded and adaptable approach to the game. 
Simon focuses on strong fundamentals, smart decision-making, and building a positive team culture. With experience as both a player and coach, he is committed to helping athletes grow in skill, confidence, and love for the game.

Lainna Buch 
Head Coach - 18U Girls

After coaching with Christian at Leaside Volleyball club in Toronto for 4 years, Lainna now enters into her 11th year of coaching club with PCVC. She is a certified Advanced Development Coach.  She brings lots of energy and focus, and is truly passionate about the sport and its athletes.

She was a member of the University of Waterloo Warriors Volleyball Team from 2009-2012, and in 2013 she played for the Humber College Hawks Volleyball team.  That year she helped the team to win their 6th consecutive OCAA championship and bring home 4th at Nationals.

Lainna is inspired and driven to coach not only players, but young women to be the very best people they can be, and is very excited to bring her strengths to Pacific Coast Volleyball Club

Assistant Coach - 18U Girls

Megan Rosenlund
​Assistant Coach - 18U Girls

​Megan brings over a decade of experience coaching indoor and outdoor volleyball at the youth and collegiate levels. She competed five years at the post-secondary level with Vancouver Island University, earning three provincial championships and one national title. In 2017, she was named CCAA Player of the Year. Following her collegiate career, Megan played professionally in Denmark for one season, contributing to her team’s gold medal victory at the Danish Cup. Megan is excited to join a group of talented athletes, and to help them achieve their goals.

Coach - 13U Boys

​Ali Sina Doosti is excited to join the PCVC coaching team! With experience in both indoor and beach volleyball, he brings a passionate enthusiasm for the game to every practice. Ali first started playing indoor volleyball and has spent the past three years honing his beach game. He’s passionate about helping young athletes grow their confidence and have fun along the way.Off the court, Ali works as a Community and Employment Coach with a community living organization, a role that fuels his patience and ability to work with different people. He’s thrilled to be part of the PCVC family and can’t wait to share his passion for volleyball with the next generation of athletes!

Elijah is looking forward to coaching his second season with PCVC. He’s been coaching high school and club volleyball since 2018. Also with experience at the collegiate level playing three years at Douglas College as a libero, he’s excited to share his knowledge to the next generation of athletes. ​

​Head Coach - 14U Boys

Cang is excited to start his first year coaching with PCVC. He has been playing volleyball for over a decade and brings a great eye for detail to the court. He is passionate about teaching the game of volleyball with a strong focus on fundamentals and continuous improvement. He believes in fostering a learning environment that allows players to hone their skills and gain a deeper understanding of the game and looks forward to bringing his experience to PCVC.

Daley Chan
Assistant Coach - 14U Boys

​Daley is a passionate volleyball coach with over 10 years of coaching experience and 15 years of playing. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Sports and Recreation, he has been a member of university and club volleyball teams in Hong Kong. Inspired by his love for the game, he enjoys sharing skills and coaching young players to grow and succeed.

Sam Cuthand
​Assistant Coach - 14U Boys

Sam grew up playing club volleyball with PCVC and APEX, competing as both a left side and right side throughout his development. He also represented Team BC, gaining high-performance experience that deepened his understanding of the game.
For the past three years, Sam has coached school volleyball, helping athletes build strong fundamentals, confidence, and game IQ. He is passionate about creating a positive training environment where young players can grow, challenge themselves, and develop a genuine love for the sport.

Jack Peckham
Head Coach - 15U Black


Coming to the PCVC by way of Ontario, Jack brings a decade of coaching experience at the club, provincial and post-secondary levels.

​A career playing for both Nipissing and Queen’s University (USPORT), Jack is a full-time teacher at WPGA and most recently lead Team BC Red and Blue (16U) to a Canada Cup gold.

A native of Red Deer, Alberta, John enters his fourth season coaching youth volleyball in Vancouver.

An alumni of University of Alberta, the two-time USPORT champion played in both France and England and is now a Canucks superfan.

Assistant Coach - 15U Black


The Edson, Alberta local comes from a rich family history of volleyball, being one of three Maris brothers playing for both Red Deer College (national champ!) and the University of Calgary. The practicing lawyer is fluent in Spanish and played in China and Uganda.

Zeid Hamadeh

​

Zeid Hamadeh began playing volleyball at age 11 in Ottawa and Toronto. He competed as an outside hitter in varsity volleyball at Western University for four years, followed by a final year of eligibility at the University of British Columbia. Since then, he has remained active in the sport through beach volleyball and coaching. Zeid is currently a medical student at the University of British Columbia and enjoys working with young athletes, supporting their development both on and off the court.

Alejandro Marcelino

Alejandro is currently coaching at the Richmond Olympic Oval with HP Volleyball and serves as the Bantam Head Coach at CHS. He has been coaching since 1992 and is a multi-sport coach with a focus on personal development and coaching. Alejandros coaching philosophy emphasizes the progression from train to train and train to compete.

Radivoje Kurcubic
Assistant Coach - 17U Black


Radivoje began playing volleyball at the age of 11, joining the junior selections of his hometown club in Serbia. Before turning 16, he advanced to the senior team, where he played as a libero. Over the next decade, Radivoje played semi-professionally in Serbia's second league, representing three different teams during this period.
​
At the recommendation of his first coach, Radivoje transitioned to coaching, taking on the role of head coach for a boys’ 16-18U team. He successfully led this team for three full seasons before relocating to Canada.

Geoffrey Yip
Assistant Coach - 17U Red


Geoffrey has been playing volleyball, along with other sports, for most of his life, which led him to begin coaching over ten years ago when he recognized a void that needed to be filled. Coaching has become his way of giving back by helping youth grow through sports. He is now looking forward to his third season with the PCVC family. Here are some of his coaching accomplishments:

With over 20 years of experience on both the beach and indoor volleyball courts as a setter for UBC; having played professionally for over a decade, Jared now brings his knowledge and experience into a coaching role. He also competes domestically on the beach volleyball circuit.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Jenson has been coaching at the youth, high school, and university level. As a player, Jenson has accumulated over 10 years of experience playing as a setter, outside attacker, and libero. 

Throughout his career, he has played for Team BC, the David Thompson Trojans, and the Capilano Blues, and was able to earn 3 berths to the BC High school Provincials, 4 Vancouver City Gold Medals, a PACWEST Provincial Gold Medal, and a CCAA National Gold medal.

Assistant Coach - 18U Boys


Richard has coached at all levels from 13u club to the University level, and both our Mens and Women's national team. As a player, Richard won National Championships at the college, university and pro levels and as a coach at college, university and junior beach levels. Over his coaching tenure his programs have produced numerous athletes who have who have represented both our Canadian indoor and beach national teams.
Pacific Coast Volleyball Club is a part of VANCOUVER VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE LTD.
