SUNDAY LEAGUE FAQs

Yes, the league is co-­ed but there is a larger number of girls than boys in our program.  Therefore, new in 2024, we have added a Boys Only session for the Grade 6-8 and Grade 9-12 time slots. Boys can choose whether to sign up for the Boys Only program or the co-ed program for these time slots. For the Co-ed programs, we look to create teams that include boys and girls but this generally depends on the kids who sign up.  We always look to ensure that there are at least 2‐3 boys on a team together.  Friend requests are also welcomed if your child wishes to play on a team with their friends!

Yes!  Each weekly session includes skills development as well as game-play so we teach the fundamentals to help newer players learn the game. Each team is assigned a coach each week to help with all aspects of this development.

Sunday League is a house league designed to give all kids a chance to play.  There are no tryouts, the weekly sessions are 90 minutes each and the season runs for 9 weeks. Club or Rep Volleyball, (the two names are interchangeable), involves a tryout process each fall where kids are selected for teams in their age group.  These teams practice 2‐3 times per week and play tournaments on weekends.  It’s a far greater time and cost commitment and the environment is more competitive.  Teams play within the Volleyball BC association and often travel to the U.S. for tournaments as well.  Many of our Club players got their start in Sunday League!

Yes! Pacific Coast Volleyball Club offers indoor skills clinics at various times throughout the school year in addition to our Club teams and Sunday League. Check out our Indoor Skills Clinics or our Beach Volleyball programs in the summer months (May-Sept).

Yes, we have used "Vancouver Volleyball League" and "Sunday League" interchangeably in the past.  The Vancouver Volleyball League (VVL) or Sunday League is run by Pacific Coast Volleyball Club as one of their many programs for youth in Vancouver.

Teams are assigned based on a combination of age, skill level, friend requests, and gender. Players will sign up as individuals but during the registration process, you will have the opportunity to provide names of any friends who you would like to be on a team with. We will do our best to accommodate all friend requests.
